Brain Health for Life. We seek passionate and talented scientists and technologists with insight to harness the neuroimmune system for brain health. Please reach out to us at jobs@modulobio.com regarding the open roles, or if you know you'd be a key multiplier for our mission.

Company Overview (www.modulo.bio )

Modulo Bio is a neuroimmunology company that harnesses the power of machine learning, patient iPSC derived cellular modeling and large scale CRISPR screening to develop therapies for neurodegenerative diseases like ALS and Frontotemporal dementia that currently have no effective treatments. Our team specializes in integrating powerful tools like stem cell engineering, multiomics data analysis, and high-throughput automation to discover and modulate neural cells into disease-context and patient-specific protective states.

Job Description

Modulo Bio is seeking a Senior Research Associate or Research Associate to perform in vitro experiments utilizing induced-pluripotent stem cells (iPSC) to identify and evaluate therapeutics for neurodegenerative diseases. This position will be on a new team helping to enable Modulo’s proprietary immune cell modeling platform, which incorporates human genetics, functional genomics, molecular biology, cellular and tissue profiling, disease model engineering, and advanced computational methodology.
The successful candidate will work within project teams to improve our understanding of human biology and therapeutic interventions to inform early and late stage pipeline efforts. Candidates with an eagerness to work within a highly leveraged, team-driven, dynamic research environment will be prioritized. The candidate will work in close collaboration with scientific leadership and our internal Computational Biology group which is focused on next-generation sequencing (NGS), functional genomics, cell or tissue profiling, and bioinformatics analyses of cutting-edge large-scale genetic screening or single-cell technologies to enhance our analytic capabilities and to reveal the underlying mechanisms of human disease.
Experience in mammalian cell culture is a requirement. Experience working with iPSC in vitro systems and lentiviral transductions is a plus.

Requirements

BS or MS in Genetics, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Developmental Biology, Biochemistry, Regenerative Medicine, Neuroscience, or related field
Experience with molecular biology techniques (e.g. cloning, PCR, minipreps)
Experience culturing human iPSCs
Demonstrated capability to collaborate within and across teams
Exceptional organizational and communication skills

Nice-to-haves

Experience running single cell assays (RNA, ATAC, spatial transcriptomics, etc.) is advantageous
Experience with cellular reprogramming highly desirable (e.g. lentiviral / retroviral transduction)
Experience differentiating human iPSCs (3D modeling/organoids) will come in useful
Experience with high content imaging, flow cytometry/FACS and image analysis

Responsibilities

Routine engagement with scientific leadership
Develop and perform experimental work plan with minimal oversight
Regular and effective communication with internal and external partners
Collaborate effectively with informatics and software development teams
