💼 About the Role

As our Financial Controller, you’ll be the operational engine of our finance team. You’ll ensure that the numbers are accurate, the reports are timely, and the systems are humming. You’ll play a critical role in building a foundation for growth by owning core accounting processes, implementing strong financial controls, and delivering data that drives smart decisions.

You’ll partner directly with our Director of Finance and other key leaders to ensure our financials aren’t just clean. They’re useful.

If you love structure, clarity, and numbers that make sense (and scale), this is your dream seat.

🔍 What You’ll Do

Accounting & Reporting

  • Own the monthly close process and deliver timely, accurate financial statements
  • Maintain the general ledger and ensure alignment with Canadian GAAP
  • Manage AP, AR, payroll accounting, reconciliations, and journal entries
  • Prepare internal financial reports and variance analyses
  • Coordinate with external accountants and tax advisors

Controls & Systems

  • Build and enforce internal controls and approval processes
  • Support budgeting and forecasting by maintaining up-to-date actuals and cost tracking
  • Drive automation of manual workflows in accounting and finance systems
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and tax filings

Cross-Functional Support

  • Help department leads understand and manage their budgets
  • Provide cost analysis and margin insights to support key business decisions
  • Assist in audit prep, reporting, and financial review processes

🧠 What You Bring

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related
  • CPA designation (or actively working toward one)
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting or finance
  • Strong understanding of Canadian accounting standards and tax compliance
  • High attention to detail and an ownership mindset
  • Proficiency with accounting systems (e.g. QuickBooks, Xero, NetSuite)
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills

Bonus Points If You Have

  • Experience in a high-growth or tech-enabled company
  • Exposure to ERP implementations or systems migrations
  • Familiarity with financial planning and analysis (FP&A)
  • A knack for turning chaos into order

💡 You're a Great Fit If You…

  • Crave accuracy and process like a true builder
  • Love making numbers make sense
  • Thrive in a fast-moving environment where clarity and speed matter
  • Think like an owner, not just an operator
  • Value autonomy, honesty, and low-ego collaboration
  • Want your work to matter. And know how to make it count
