Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Social Worker to join the Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) Team within the Safeguarding Department in Cambridge. This role provides a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of vulnerable children and families while working within a dynamic and supportive team. The position offers flexible working hours, allowing for an optimal work-life balance, and is based in the historic and vibrant city of Cambridge.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide professional leadership and specialist social work expertise, making independent decisions in complex cases.

  • Undertake comprehensive assessments to identify needs and risks, ensuring interventions are outcome-focused and aligned with SMART planning.

  • Build and maintain effective relationships with children and families, ensuring their voices are heard and influencing decisions to improve their outcomes.

  • Ensure statutory compliance with legislation, including the Children Act 1989, Working Together to Safeguard Children, and other safeguarding frameworks.

  • Prepare and present clear, analytical, and evidence-based reports for various forums, including court proceedings.

  • Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners, including health, education, and police services, to develop holistic intervention plans.

  • Stay informed about social policy developments and maintain professional registration with Social Work England.

Essential Requirements
  • Degree in Social Work (or equivalent qualification).

  • Registration with Social Work England.

  • Experience working within a MASH, Child Protection, or Safeguarding setting.

  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation, policies, and best practices.

  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, multi-agency environment.

  • Excellent communication and analytical skills, with the ability to produce high-quality written reports.
