At OpticOdds, we’re transforming how companies trade and manage risk in the sports betting industry. We provide real-time sports betting data and risk management solutions that help clients boost profitability while saving thousands of engineering hours. We’ve simplified real-time data and made it more accessible and actionable for sportsbooks, exchanges, and platforms.

Our product is strong. Our traction is real. Now, we’re looking to expand our small, fast-moving team to keep up with explosive growth. That’s where you come in.

As a Data Engineer, you will play a key role in maintaining the integrity and performance of OpticOdds’ data platform. This role emphasizes engineering, building, monitoring, and improving the systems that power our real-time data feeds and APIs. At the same time, you will act as a technical bridge to clients, helping them integrate smoothly and ensuring their needs are represented internally.

The role is suited to someone who brings strong engineering fundamentals, is confident in debugging complex systems, and enjoys the challenge of working in real time with mission-critical data. You will report to the Head of Engineering and collaborate with product and sales teams to ensure our platform remains the most reliable in the market.

Responsibilities:

  • Data Engineering: Build, maintain, and improve systems that process and deliver real-time sports betting data.
  • Monitoring: Proactively monitor live feeds to ensure accuracy, consistency, and minimal latency.
  • API Engineering: Debug and optimize API interactions, ensuring integrations are seamless and performant.
  • Client Integration: Provide technical guidance to operators during integration, ensuring our APIs are fully leveraged.
  • Incident Response: Handle occasional after-hours issues with a focus on rapid resolution and root-cause prevention.
  • Internal Collaboration: Represent recurring client challenges to engineering and product, helping prioritize fixes and enhancements.
  • Tooling and Automation: Contribute to internal tooling and automation that reduce manual support and improve system reliability.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of engineering experience, with a focus on data pipelines or real-time systems.
  • Strong skills in Python with a proven ability to debug and optimize.
  • Hands-on experience with API debugging.
  • Background in sports betting data highly preferred; candidates with adjacent experience in high-volume transactional data will be considered.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage clients confidently while collaborating effectively across internal teams.
  • Self-starter who thrives in dynamic, high-growth environments.
  • Experience with Kafka or web scraping is a big plus
