The opportunity

Altruist is entering an exciting growth phase, and we’re seeking a Staff Data Engineer to join our Data Platform Team. In this role, you’ll lead data initiatives for our Clearing platform, driving efforts to centralize data sources, create trusted datasets, optimize and enhance data pipelines, and develop new data export pipelines for partner integrations.

Your impact

  • Develop and maintain scalable data pipelines and ELT processes
  • Build new data integrations based on established requirements
  • Collaborate with product and business teams to build and enhance core data models
  • Perform data analysis to investigate and resolve data issues
  • Manage data replication, data tooling and support integrations for Redis, ElasticSearch, Postgres and Snowflake databases
  • Provide support to product teams to understand available data marts, how to integrate with the data platform, and evangelize data best practices

What you bring

  • Experience - 8+ years of experience working with data lakes and data warehouses (such as Snowflake); at an established financial services or fintech organization. Familiarity with one or more object oriented programming languages (Python or Java preferred). Extensive experience working with highly sensitive data at a custodian, asset manager, clearing firm, or similar company.
  • Education - Ideally looking for a B.A. / B.S. degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • Technical aptitude - You have strong data modeling and data analysis skills with prior experience working with
    • Relational and NoSQL databases
    • Data Orchestration tools such as Airflow
    • Data Replication tools such as Debezium and Airbyte
    • Data Management tools such as DBT
    • Integrating with AWS Cloud Services
    • Big data tools such as EMR, Hadoop, Spark etc
    • CI/CD Tools such as Jenkins and Gitlab
