Reporting to: Head of PE (Curriculum)
Primary Responsibility: To teach Physical Education to the highest standard in line with the school’s mission and core values with a particular focus on netball and dance.
Generic responsibilities:● Teach Physical Education to the highest possible standard, as agreed with the Head of PE, within the framework of the School’s PE Curriculum and whole school policies and requirements.● Teach across the age and ability ranges from Prep 1 to Grade 6.● Ensure that the quality of teaching and learning in lessons is of the highest possible quality.● Identify and adopt the most effective teaching approaches for the students in the Elementary School (ES) and keep abreast of contemporary educational issues.● Adopt strategies and monitor teaching and learning activities to support individuals with SEN/EAL in line with school and Department policy.● Take a professional approach to the planning, preparation and organisation of lessons and activities.● Maintain good classroom discipline reinforcing a values driven and virtues based approach to self-discipline.● Ensure high quality, high energy and dynamic classroom management.● Maintain high expectations of pupils and ensure that teaching approaches and materials (including the use of ICT) are commensurate with their capability, so that the optimum standards of achievement are reached.● Maintain current knowledge of the International Primary Curriculum (IPC), governing body and other relevant agencies’ programmes, policies, guidance and advice.● Participate in subject planning, development of appropriate syllabuses, resources and schemes of work.● Maintain appropriate assessment records, data collection and monitoring information using appropriate IPC criteria.● Support the Extra Curricular Activity (ECA) Co-ordinator and Head of Sport with the organisation and delivery of the School ECA programme.● Support and mentor school staff in the delivery of high quality ECAs.● Implement appropriate Health and Safety policies and procedures in order to ensure a safe, effective, child friendly environment in all lessons and activities.● Be committed to continuous professional development (CPD) relevant to the post, including the School Performance Management programme.● Attend and contribute to meetings/development time as directed.● Any other agreed duties appropriate to and commensurate with the post.
