Financial Accountant

As the Financial Accountant, you’ll play a vital role in the full financial function, supporting reporting, consolidations, compliance, and performance analysis for a group with multiple active operations. You’ll work closely with the Financial Manager and CFO, gaining exposure to listed-company reporting standards, high-level decision-making, and strategic finance initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and review monthly financial reports, reconciliations, and supporting schedules for head office and subsidiaries.
• Assist with group consolidations, month-end close, and management reporting.
• Maintain accuracy and compliance in general ledger and fixed asset management.
• Support the preparation of annual financial statements in line with IFRS and JSE-listed requirements.
• Participate in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis processes.
• Assist with audit preparation and liaise with external auditors to ensure smooth reviews.
• Partner with operational finance teams to ensure consistency and accuracy of reporting across sites.
• Support tax and statutory submissions, ensuring full compliance with legislative requirements.
• Help implement and improve financial systems, controls, and reporting tools.
• Provide insight and support on capital expenditure tracking, project accounting, and internal controls.
• Contribute to process improvement initiatives within the finance department.

Job Experience & Skills Required:

• BCom Accounting / Finance degree essential
• Newly qualified CA(SA) with 3–5 years of post-article experience
• Exposure to mining, industrial, or manufacturing sectors beneficial
• Strong technical accounting knowledge and understanding of IFRS
• Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Pronto, Sage, or similar)
• Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills
• Hands-on, detail-oriented, and eager to grow within a dynamic, multi-entity environment
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
• Driven, adaptable, and ready to contribute in a fast-evolving, growth-focused organisation.
