Job requires operating large farm equipment including, but not limited to, tractors with various implements, sprayers, pick up trucks, combines, cotton pickers, forklifts, ATVs, and mowers to till soil; prepare and work land; and plant, irrigate, fertilize, spray, cultivate, and harvest crops. Non CDL farm trucks will be loaded with agricultural products and driven on the farm and to storage facilities. Job also requires working with irrigation equipment such as irrigation pipe and well motors; performing various duties involved with irrigation including laying irrigation pipe in fields, punching holes in irrigation pipe at set intervals, periodically checking irrigation pipe, and picking up irrigation pipe; performing mechanical repair and maintenance on farm equipment; lifting bags of seed to load planters; loading sprayers with chemicals; chopping and stacking wood; servicing and cleaning equipment when necessary; maintaining an organized and clean work place; mowing and spraying grass; keeping areas around fields clean of trash and debris; using hand tools in fields to maintain irrigation ditches, chop weeds, and otherwise maintain proper field conditions for crop growth; performing duties in and around grain bins including loading grain into bins, unloading grain from bins, sweeping bins, shoveling grain, and cleaning grain bin location; and operating grain conveying equipment.
Only custom harvesting duties will be performed off of the employer's worksite. All other duties will take place only on land owned or controlled by the employer. Custom harvesting duties include operating combines, tractors, and non CDL farm trucks to harvest and transport crops to elevators or storage areas. Workers will also be required to clean and service equipment as required while custom harvesting.
There are few typical days and workers may be required to change duties and/or locations often and engage in various general functions. Daily duties may vary depending on crop, weather, and field conditions. The employer reserves the right to increase workers' pay or provide bonuses based on tenure, performance, or other factors that are solely based on the discretion of the employer.
