Job Summary/Basic Function

The Department of Economics and Finance at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position (#113170) in Economics at the rank of assistant or associate professor. The start date for the position is August 1, 2026.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses.
  • Conduct research in the following areas of economics:
    • applied microeconomics.
    • macroeconomics.
    • econometrics.
    • labor economics.
    • industrial organization.
    • international economics.
    • related fields.
  • engage in service to the department, college, and university.
  • maintain an active research agenda leading to peer-reviewed publications.

Required Education

A terminal degree in economics is required by the appointment date.

Other Desirables

Applicants with the following will receive special consideration:

  • Ability to teach in multiple areas of economics.
  • Experience with data analysis software (e.g., Stata, R, Python).
  • Demonstrated commitment to student engagement.
  • Holding or pursuing professional certifications such as the NABE Certified Business Economist (CBE®) credential.
  • Relevant applied or policy experience.
