About the job
Black Forest Labs is a cutting-edge startup pioneering generative image and video models. Our team, which invented Stable Diffusion, Stable Video Diffusion, and FLUX.1.
As we scale from breakthrough research to sustainable business impact, we are looking for a BizOps Lead to work directly with our founders, Chief of Staff, and leadership team to solve the most critical operational challenges and build the foundation for our next phase of growth.
Why this role matters
This role is critical to driving the next stage of growth and operational excellence at Black Forest Labs. As our Business Operations Lead, you'll work as a versatile problem-solver across the business, partnering directly with senior leaders to tackle the highest-priority challenges as they emerge.
Reporting directly to the Chief of Staff (our first business hire who built out multiple functions), you'll serve as a force multiplier - gaining broad exposure to all aspects of scaling a high-growth AI company, from technical operations to GTM, operations, and finance. You'll craft pragmatic solutions, align diverse stakeholders, and own the delivery of high-impact initiatives wherever they're most needed. This is a high-leverage role with direct exposure to executive decision-making and the opportunity to shape how we operate at scale.
What you'll do
- Work across multiple business functions as priorities shift, serving as connective tissue across R&D, GTM, Finance & Operations
- Drive special projects and strategic initiatives on behalf of the CoS and founding team, owning end-to-end delivery
- Define, track, and optimize key performance metrics across business areas, partnering with finance to ensure data-driven decision-making
- Own monthly business reviews - synthesize performance trends, insights, and recommendations into clear narratives for leadership
- Deep dive into critical business drivers - uncovering operational bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement across both business and technical operations
- Partner with technical teams to translate complex infrastructure requirements (compute planning, capacity management) into business cases and strategic recommendations
- Support executive communications - prepare board materials, strategic presentations, and leadership meeting content that distills complexity into actionable insights
- Pressure-test strategic alignment - assess current projects against multi-year goals to ensure daily execution builds toward long-term success
What we're looking for
- 4–6 years of combined experience in business operations, strategy, consulting (MBB), investment banking, venture capital, or private equity - with at least 1–2 years as an operator within a high-growth company
- Bias for action with a can-do attitude - you thrive in ambiguous environments by bringing structured thinking to complex problems and always driving towards outcomes
- Executive presence and influence - proven ability to engage confidently with executives, technical teams, and operational staff, shaping strategic priorities across functions
- Ability to switch gears between high-level strategy and hands-on execution, collaborating effectively across all levels of the organization
- Commercially minded with sharp focus on translating operations into revenue growth and market impact
- Exceptional communicator with proven ability to connect big-picture goals to tactical execution
- Deep passion for technology and the future of AI
Nice to have
- Prior experience in AI, generative AI, or ML-adjacent businesses
- Highly analytical, with advanced modeling expertise and familiarity with SQL
