About Fulcrum
Fulcrum is re-wiring the insurance-brokerage industry with AI agents that let brokerages grow revenue without adding headcount. Our platform already saves customers thousands of hours and millions of dollars every year. We’ve just closed our Series A and are looking to grow our team as we scale rapidly.
Why Fulcrum
- Rocket-ship growth. We’ve achieved multiple seven figures in ARR in just over a year, serving large enterprise clients including 25% of the top 50 brokers in the country.
- Extreme ownership. You’ll work directly with enterprise users and ship end-to-end products that save them hours every week.
- Bleeding-edge problems, real impact. Tackle tough AI and product challenges whose wins show up immediately in customer workflows.
- In-person collaboration. Join a lean, staff-level team (ex-Affirm, Uber, DoorDash, McKinsey) working side-by-side in San Francisco; we believe the best ideas are fostered in an in-person environment.
- Top-of-market rewards. Competitive base salary plus meaningful founding-team equity.
About the Role
We’re hiring an Applied AI Engineer to design, build, and scale the systems that power our next-generation operations platform.
You’ll work across the stack — from LLM fine-tuning and evaluation to complex agentic workflows — delivering production‑grade systems that learn from real users in the wild. This is a hands-on role focused on fast iteration, technical depth, and measurable impact in production.
What You’ll Do
- Develop complex LLM workflows and agents to power real-time, high‑throughput, document-driven workflows.
- Implement safety and alignment frameworks for LLM‑driven user experiences.
- Build scalable monitoring systems to detect and respond to unexpected model behavior.
- Balance rapid feature deployment with long‑term system reliability and scalability.
- Ensure compliance with data safety and industry regulations.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, product, and research teams to ship quickly and iterate continuously.
What You’ll Bring
- 2+ years of experience working directly with LLMs.
- Deep expertise in LLM development (RAG, fine‑tuning, prompt design, evaluation).
- Proven ability to ship and maintain production AI systems at scale.
- Strong background in ML systems design and engineering best practices.
- Excellent communication and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
- Based in or willing to relocate to San Francisco (5 days/week in office).
As an early‑stage company building at the frontier of AI, we work with high intensity and commitment. While schedules can vary by role/team, many weeks will demand extra focus, flexibility, and time — particularly during major launches and high‑impact sprints. We’re seeking those who are aligned to and able to commit to that expectation, which includes 5 days per week in our San Francisco office.
