About the job
We grow cash crops and put-up hay to sell. Growing season is limited by weather. Some equipment requires routine annual maintenance is performed before spring thaw, but majority of the work is during spring, summer and fall. Occasionally harvesting extends beyond fall freeze. We need seasonal employees to assist with our crop production season where we grow corn, wheat, oats, sorghum, rye, millet and soybeans. Employees will need to assist with all aspects of growing these crops. Job duties will include: prepare fields for planting, attach farm implements such as plows, discs, sprayers, or harvesters to tractors, using bolts and hand tools, operate tractors, planters, seed drills, manure spreaders, operate other farm equipment, engage in planting, weeding, spraying and/or harvesting activities, load and unload crops or materials, manually or using conveyors, forklifts, or transfer augers, load hoppers, containers, or conveyors to feed machines with products, using forklifts, transfer augers, suction gates, shovels, or pitchforks, manipulate controls to set, activate, and adjust mechanisms on machinery, observe and listen to machinery operation to detect equipment malfunctions, load crops and unload crops, operate equipment to harvest crops, record agricultural data, drive pickup trucks to haul crops, supplies, and tools, inspect, adjust, and complete routine maintenance and repairs on equipment. May herd livestock out of fields if they break through fences. Employer may provide pay increases for performance, longevity and/or experience at employer’s discretion. Employer may provide performance bonuses at the end of the contract at the employer’s discretion.
