Tenured Associate Professor or Professor of Mathematics

The Departments of Mathematics and Computer Science at Vanderbilt University invite applications for a full-time tenured faculty position at the rank of Associate Professor or recently promoted Professor, to begin in the Fall semester of 2026. The position will be jointly appointed between the two departments, with the administrative home in the Department of Mathematics. The area of specialization is open, but we especially seek outstanding scholars whose research aligns with the missions of both departments and contributes to understanding the mathematical foundations of artificial intelligence. 

The successful candidate will be expected to maintain a strong, internationally recognized research program, teach both undergraduate and graduate courses in Mathematics and Computer Science, supervise graduate students, contribute to departmental and university service, and help foster cross-disciplinary collaboration, especially within Vanderbilt’s newly established College of Connected Computing, which houses the Department of Computer Science. 

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Mathematics, Computer Science, or a closely related field, and must have a distinguished record of research, excellence in teaching, and demonstrated leadership within their discipline.
