About the job

With its long tradition of excellent research, the Department of Mathematics at Stockholm University has a prominent place in Scandinavian mathematics. The department consists of three departments: mathematics, mathematical statistics and computational mathematics. Researchers working at the Department of Mathematics have skills that span many different branches of mathematics, from algebra, geometry and analysis to mathematical logic, mathematical statistics and computational mathematics. Subject: Mathematics Main responsibilities: Research, teaching and supervision. Qualification requirements: In order to qualify for the position as associate professor, the applicant must have completed a doctoral degree or equivalent in mathematics, or an equivalent subject. All teaching positions at Stockholm University require the ability to collaborate and the general ability and suitability to perform one’s duties. Assessment criteria: In the appointment process, special attention will be given to research and teaching skills. The assessment of research skills will focus primarily on merits within the subject area of the position. In the case of otherwise equal qualifications, the following criteria will be used to distinguish between candidates: Preconditions for collaborations within the Department of Mathematics. About the employment: Completed training in teaching and learning in higher education, or equivalent knowledge, is an advantage. An applicant who has not completed at least 15 credits of teaching and learning in higher education and is not considered to have otherwise acquired equivalent knowledge should undergo such training within the first two years of employment. Additional information: Swedish “universitetslektor”; tenured position approximately equivalent to Senior Lecturer (UK) or Associate Professor (US). Proficiency in Swedish is not a requirement at the time of appointment, but the candidate should be able to carry out teaching and administrative duties that require good command of Swedish within two years of employment Female applicants are particularly welcome, as most associate professors at the department are men.
