  Staff Accountant 

Job Summary:
 Pembroke Hill School is looking for a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join their Business Office team. This role supports the day-to-day accounting operations of the business office, ensuring accuracy and integrity of the accounting and reporting systems while providing excellent customer service to all constituencies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the end-to-end accounts receivable process, including invoicing, collections, and account reconciliations.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to resolve billing disputes and maintain positive client relationships.
  • Prepare and post journal entries for month-end close activities.
  • Perform reconciliations of balance sheet accounts.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

 

Schedule : This is a year round position paid time off in accordance with employee benefit plans. 
 
Compensation : Compensation will be based on related experience and education and a competitive norm influenced by local relevant professional salary data. Transcripts and verification of employment will be required. Benefits include health, dental, retirement match (up to 8%), professional development opportunities, PHS tuition remission, paid time off (sick, PTO and office closed days).

  • Ability to sit for extended periods.

  • Ability to speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in normal classrooms, outdoors, and on the telephone
  • Physical ability to lift, carry and/or hold up to 25 pounds to shoulder height and 50 pounds to waist height
  • Ability to occasionally balance, reach, bend, squat, stoop, or kneel
  • Ability to climb stairs, walk, and occasionally run, if required 

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • 1 – 3 years of accounting experience preferred with a strong understanding of GAAP.
  • Administrative, organizational, and interpersonal skills with the ability to tactfully support school policies.
  • Proficiency in Excel and other accounting systems.
  • Excellent attention to detail; strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Highest regard for confidentiality, exemplary ethical standards, integrity, and respect for others.
  • As part of the pre-employment screening process, a credit report will be included in the background check due to handling money and access to bank accounts.
