POSITION TITLE: Paraprofessional
LOCATION: Wakefield High School
QUALIFICATION:
- Associate’s Degree or higher preferred
- Experience working with high school students with special education needs preferred,
- Excellent oral, written, and communication skills
Wakefield High School is looking for a paraprofessional to work with students in grades 9-12 across academic areas. The main responsibilities will include supporting students on IEPs in their high school classes by ensuring accommodations are being implemented, under the direction of the content teacher and special education teacher.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in the delivery of instruction and the implementation of the IEP Goals and objectives
- Ensure the safety of students in all environments
- Assist in facilitating independence, social awareness, language and appropriate behavior
- Assist the teacher in the collection of data
- Lead and/or support direct instruction to students individually, in small groups, and in inclusion settings
- Monitor and assist students as needed in their daily routines across classroom activities and/or settings
- Assist individual students as necessary to follow routines, follow directions, follow an individual schedule, and/or complete tasks
- Communicate effectively and in a professional manner with general education staff when assigned
- Other duties as assigned
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
SALARY: Commensurate with Wakefield Public Schools’ Unit C salary schedule (staring rate per hour (step 1) is $25.92; step 12 = $31.12.
