Overview
A young family in Dumbo, Brooklyn are looking for a great nanny/family assistant to help them with their infant son and a friendly family dog starting in October 2025. The ideal schedule is 50 hours a week guaranteed: Monday 8am-6pm, Tuesday 8am-8pm, Thursday 8am-6pm, Friday 8am-8pm, and 5-6 hours on Saturdays TBD. The days off would be Wednesday and Sunday. The schedule can be flexible, and the family is open to creating a schedule that works for both parties, but ideally, they would like to have at least two Saturday’s a month. Mom is the primary caregiver, but they are looking for a candidate who can be a consistent, trustworthy extra set of hands — someone who can step in with childcare when needed and help manage the household day-to-day.
Responsibilities
Childcare Support
- Step in as a safe, reliable caregiver when Mom is at an appointment, needs an extra set of hands, or we are out for the evening
- Infant care as needed: feeding, naps, diaper changes, soothing, stroller walks, developmental play
Family Assistant / Household Management
- Order groceries & household items (Instacart, Amazon, etc.)
- Run errands, manage package returns, accept deliveries
- Coordinate with vendors (e.g., furniture deliveries, repair appointments)
- Customer service calls, basic household admin, occasional thank-you cards
Laundry
- Handle family laundry regularly (washing, folding, putting away)
- Special care for baby’s clothes, linens, and blankets
Light Housekeeping & Household Upkeep
- They have a housekeeper who comes weekly, so this role focuses on daily upkeep and organization, not deep cleaning.
- Daily tidying (dishes, countertops, light vacuum/sweeping, organizing baby gear)
- Wipe dog’s paws when she comes in from walks
- Keep the home running smoothly between housecleaner visits
Dog Support (as needed)
- Assist with occasional dog walks when needed (we also have a dedicated walker)
Requirements
- Infant experience and strong references
- Certified in infant CPR/First Aid
- Highly trustworthy and reliable — this role is central to our family’s support system
- Organized, proactive, and comfortable managing household/admin tasks
- Pet-friendly (they have a sweet 55 lb dog)
- Legal to work in the US
Salary and Benefits
- $38-$40/hour with OT
- Consistent 50 hrs/week guaranteed
