Site Engineer

We’re looking for a career-orientated, high-performing Site Engineer ready to take full responsibility for daily site operations, ensuring exceptional workmanship, safety, and delivery on every project milestone.

Key Responsibilities:

• Site Coordination & Execution:
  • Oversee daily site activities, ensuring that work is executed as per drawings, specifications, and the project schedule
  • Set out and level construction sites with high precision
  • Coordinate with subcontractors and trades to ensure seamless workflow and delivery
  • Conduct quality checks, identify site issues early, and resolve them decisively
  • Maintain accurate site records, including progress photos, diaries, and reports
• Technical Supervision & Quality Control:
  • Interpret construction drawings and translate them into practical, on-site action plans
  • Ensure that construction methodologies follow engineering best practices and SANS standards
  • Monitor workmanship and enforce quality control procedures
  • Liaise with Engineers, Architects, and QSs to clarify design queries and prevent rework
• Planning & Progress Monitoring:
  • Assist the Site Agent and Project Manager with tracking program progress and updating schedules
  • Prepare short-term look-ahead programs and coordinate resources accordingly
  • Anticipate material, labor, and plant requirements for upcoming activities
  • Participate in toolbox talks and promote a culture of safety and accountability
• Stakeholder Communication:
  • Communicate effectively with the professional team, client representatives, and subcontractors
  • Attend site meetings and provide technical input and updates
  • Report on delays, risks, and progress with clarity and urgency

Job Experience & Skills Required:

• National Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
• 2–5 years’ experience on construction sites (building and/or civil works)
• Strong understanding of construction drawings, site set-out, and tolerances
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, leveling equipment (total station and GPS), and MS Project
• Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills
• Valid driver’s license and own transport
• Willingness to relocate or travel to various project sites as required
• A hands-on problem-solver who thrives in the controlled chaos of a busy site
• Disciplined, focused, and laser-sharp on the details that matter
• Able to command respect and drive accountability on site
• Obsessed with delivering high-quality work the first time
• A natural coordinator and communicator, unafraid to challenge and correct
• Committed to growth, responsibility, and long-term success
