We’re looking for a strategic, media-savvy communications professional to join our growing Marketing organization. As Senior Manager, PR & Communications, you’ll own Empathy’s media relations and partner-facing communications, working closely with our Communications Lead and broader marketing team to amplify our voice across channels, strengthen relationships with key reporters, and elevate Empathy’s position as a category-defining company in tech and care innovation.
In this role you will
Media Relations: Develop and execute Empathy’s media relations strategy—cultivating relationships with journalists, editors, and producers across business, tech, trade, and lifestyle outlets. Lead proactive and reactive press efforts, manage inbound media requests, and secure high-impact coverage that reinforces Empathy’s leadership and credibility. Collaborate with external Comms partners and own day-to-day management of our PR pipeline and press materials, including releases, media briefs, and executive commentary.
Partner & Co-Marketing PR: Collaborate directly with clients and partners (employers, insurers, financial institutions, and brand collaborators) on joint PR efforts—coordinating shared announcements, messaging, and assets. Ensure every partner-facing communication reflects Empathy’s mission and voice while advancing shared business goals. Build scalable processes and templates for future partner announcements, launches, and shared wins.
Storytelling & Media Strategy: Support Empathy’s overarching storytelling by translating core narratives into media-facing opportunities. Identify timely angles and trends that align with Empathy’s messaging, drafting and adapting stories for press and partner audiences. Collaborate closely with the Communications Lead on narrative direction, ensuring consistent messaging and strong execution across press releases, earned coverage, and co-marketing opportunities.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work hand-in-hand with product marketing, brand, and sales teams to align messaging, elevate milestones, and surface meaningful stories from across the business. Support alignment between global and U.S. communications priorities and maintain consistency across internal and external storytelling.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in public relations, media relations, or communications, ideally across both agency and in-house roles.
- Strong writing and editing skills — able to craft clear, compelling press materials and partner communications.
- Experience managing cross-company announcements and co-marketing PR with clients or external partners.
- Proven track record of building relationships with media and securing impactful coverage across business, tech, and vertical outlets.
- Strategic thinker with excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple fast-moving workstreams.
- Deep understanding of storytelling, positioning, and brand voice in a high-growth, mission-driven tech environment.
- Comfortable working cross-functionally across marketing, design, and leadership teams.
- Familiarity with digital health, HR tech, insurtech, fintech, or the broader benefits ecosystem is a plus.
