Senior Data Engineer – Market and Credit Risk Platforms
Location: New York City or Remote (US-based)
Salary: $180,000 – $220,000 base (commensurate with experience)
About the Role
We are looking for an accomplished Senior Data Engineer to join a dynamic team focused on designing and building a next-generation platform for market and credit counterparty risk. In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to work on a four-year program aimed at transforming risk management processes. You’ll collaborate closely with stakeholders and engineering teams to create innovative, scalable solutions that meet the demands of a fast-paced financial services environment.
What You’ll Do
- Build and optimize data pipelines and workflows using Python, AWS, Airflow, and Snowflake.
- Ensure data systems are reliable, high-performing, and secure by implementing monitoring and alerting solutions.
- Work with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into technical solutions.
- Enhance the platform by integrating new features, incorporating additional data sources, and improving data flows.
- Document processes and tools, and share best practices across the engineering team.
- Tackle technical challenges head-on, contributing to a culture of problem-solving and innovation.
Who You Are
- You have a strong technical background and a proven ability to design, build, and maintain complex data platforms.
- You are an advanced Python developer who excels at creating efficient, scalable solutions.
- You’re highly skilled in cloud technologies, especially AWS, and tools like Airflow and Snowflake.
- You bring expertise in market and credit counterparty risk systems and understand the unique challenges of this domain.
- You’re comfortable working in dynamic environments with shifting priorities and tight deadlines.
- You’re experienced with CI/CD workflows and infrastructure as code, and you value clean, efficient processes.
- You communicate effectively and work well with cross-functional teams to achieve shared goals.
Preferred Background
- Financial services experience, particularly in investment banking or enterprise risk management.
- Previous work with consulting firms or organizations known for building robust, scalable platforms.
