About the Position

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to support our accounting and finance function during a four-month transition period starting in November 2025. This temporary role requires a hands-on finance professional who can take ownership of accounting operations, deliver accurate reporting, and ensure compliance with accounting standards in a fast-paced startup environment.

The Senior Accountant will work closely with the VP of Finance, collaborate with the SVP of People and Operations, and oversee the People Ops + Finance Assistant, who provides support with credit card expense entries.

About You

You are a detail-oriented and dependable accounting professional who thrives in fast-moving, dynamic environments. You bring a balance of precision and practicality—able to dive deep into the numbers while keeping sight of the bigger financial picture. With a strong command of GAAP, month-end close processes, and operational accounting, you take ownership of your work and deliver accurate, timely results without needing heavy oversight.

You’re comfortable wearing multiple hats, whether preparing financial statements, reconciling accounts, or ensuring compliance across payroll and benefits. You communicate clearly and collaborate easily with cross-functional partners in Finance, Operations, and People, maintaining professionalism and discretion. Above all, you take pride in creating order from complexity and helping teams stay confident in their financial data during times of transition.

Responsibilities:

  • Financial Accounting & Reporting
    • Maintain integrity of the general ledger and ensure GAAP compliance.
    • Manage month-end close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, allocations, accruals, prepaids, revenue and supporting schedules.
    • Help with monthly gross profit margins reporting
    • Help VP of Finance with timely preparation of accurate financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) to management, bank and investors.
    • Conduct variance analysis and provide insights on budget-to-actual performance
  • Revenue & Accounts Receivable
    • Manage customer invoicing, billing schedules, and collections.
    • Apply appropriate revenue recognition policies (subscription-based, milestone, and services).
    • Maintain AR aging and follow up on overdue accounts.
    • Monitor usage-based or overage billing in coordination with professional services team.
  • Accounts Payable & Expense Management
    • Review vendor invoices and payments.
    • Approve credit card expense entries completed by the People Operations Assistant.
    • Ensure adherence to company expense policies and vendor contract terms.
  • Cash & Treasury Management
    • Monitor daily cash balances and prepare rolling weekly cash flow forecasts.
    • Manage bank transactions, wires, and ACH payments.
  • Payroll & Benefits Accounting
    • Process bi-weekly and semi-monthly payroll in ADP.
    • Record payroll journal entries.
    • Oversee 401(k) contributions, health benefits, and related compliance.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including prior Senior Accountant experience (startup or high-growth company experience preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and revenue recognition principles.
  • Hands-on experience with QuickBooks Online, ADP WorkforceNow (Running Payroll), Bill.com, Ramp.
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Proven ability to manage cash flow, reporting, and compliance in a lean environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, with ability to collaborate across teams.
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced startup setting.
