Role Overview
The role of Quality Control Officer is essential in maintaining the quality and safety standards of green open spaces, parks, and gardens. This role involves regular inspections, enforcing quality control measures, and collaborating closely with park management and stakeholders to enhance the environment's usability and aesthetic appeal.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspection & Assessment: Conduct regular inspections to evaluate the condition, cleanliness, and safety of green spaces. Document any issues related to landscaping health, appearance, safety hazards, or signs of vandalism.
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to all relevant regulations, standards, and guidelines concerning green space maintenance and management.
- Emergency Response: Act promptly in response to emergencies such as storms, natural disasters, or accidents that may impact the safety of green spaces.
- Safety Management: Identify and mitigate safety hazards within gardens, parks, and other green spaces.
- Maintenance Oversight: Verify that maintenance activities align with established standards and schedules to uphold the health and aesthetic appeal of green spaces.
- Record Keeping: Maintain detailed records of all inspections, assessments, and quality control activities for regulatory compliance.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with park management and other stakeholders to address quality issues and implement improvement initiatives.
- Training & Guidance: Provide guidance and training to park staff on best practices and quality control procedures.

Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes
- Experience:
- Higher National Diploma in Environmental Science (or equivalent) with a minimum of five years in a similar role; Or
- Bachelor's Degree in Science (Level 6) with three years of relevant experience; Or
- Master's Degree in Science (Level 7) with no prior experience required.
- Language Skills: Excellent command of English is required. Proficiency in Maltese is an asset.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively engage with team members and the public.
- Interpersonal Skills: Collaborative approach, able to work harmoniously with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in environmental standards, quality control methods, and landscaping best practices.
- Organisation: Excellent organisational skills to manage and document multiple inspections and quality control activities.
- Self-Motivated: Demonstrates proactive initiative, adaptability, and commitment to upholding quality standards.
