Quality is our brand and the Quality Assurance Lead is the tip of the spear when it comes to quality in our software builds for our customers. You love a challenge, tackling hard problems and is someone who is willing to go the distance at trying to break the system. This person should find unusual and creative ways to turn the system on its head, and try to shake out a bug or weak user experience. QA is about pushing the system to its limits, and then, when it breaks, being able to clearly communicate the issues to the team and drive them to resolution. As Quality Assurance Lead, you live and breathe quality, ready to help clients or devs come up with the best solution possible in the context of the issue environment and timeline.
Team You Are Joining
The QA team at Sprout is a mix of quality assurance and test automation that solve a wide-array of applications managing equity to digital assets. QA is closely situated at the intersection of our customers, business, product and engineering teams. QA is the champion for a great user experience with no issues or bugs. We support multiple development teams in several product areas. We focus on continuous improvement and finding better ways to test so that we can deliver great software and products. We are a diverse, international team, and we are always learning.
Problem You Will Solve
The QA lead has deep technical and domain experience and provides team leadership through planning and coordinating test projects and company quality processes. The lead also provides mentorship to a growing team of QA Engineers through example and constructive guidance.
You will provide tactical leadership during test projects, adjusting priorities to support the test and quality needs for Sprout applications. You will be continually pushing the boundaries of what (and how) we test, and you will constantly be looking for ways to improve our processes to yield ever-better quality outcomes. We are increasingly using automation to extend and improve our testing, but you will be heavily focused on manual testing and improving how we test manually.
About the Role
In this role, you will design test processes and procedures used to ensure that software operates within defined requirements. You will create detailed, comprehensive and well-structured test plans and test cases. You will implement test plans and validation strategies. You must be able to evaluate functional stability to ensure business requirements are being met and are “fit-for-purpose” through end-to-end functional testing.
You will work closely with our developers and business team to identify and resolve issues. You can clearly communicate any obstacles to raise awareness and avoid project impediments and overall project timeline disruption. You will collaborate with Product and developers on tasks related to the planning, testing and coordination of release activities. You will participate in the user story creation process through dissection of high-level requirements during team review sessions.
You possess 5-8 years of work experience in Quality Assurance roles, preferably in a SaaS environment with test suite creation experience. You are a skilled listener, facilitator and communicator. You also have a growth mindset and are proactive with a bias for action. You are driven, intellectually curious and a fast learner of new businesses. You have extensive knowledge or strong sense of organization, prioritization and what good structure and processes looks like.
Other requirements:
- Experience in writing clear, concise and comprehensive test plans and test cases
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Demonstrated ability to think outside the box
- Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development process
- Strong Understanding of Sales and Service Cloud
- Experience working in Agile Methodologies
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to estimate and work inside client timelines
- Ability to work independently without much supervision
