Role Overview
As Principal Engineer, you will lead the evolution of OpenYield’s trading platform, enhancing marketplace functionality and performance with a focus on AI-driven innovation. You’ll partner with traders and engineers to build scalable systems that power intelligent, automated trading across fixed income markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Scale Trading Infrastructure
- Enhance and scale the core trading platform to support low-latency, high-throughput execution
- Ensure peak performance, reliability, and fault-tolerance under growing volume and complexity
- AI-Driven Innovation
- Develop and deploy AI-powered tools to improve execution strategies and user experience
- Build systems to support intelligent search, personalization, and automated workflows
- Data Architecture & Performance
- Optimize search and retrieval systems for real-time and historical market data
- Refine database architecture to handle increasing data and analytics demands
- Compliance, Security & Scalability
- Ensure systems meet regulatory, security, and scalability requirements as adoption grows
- Technical Leadership
- Mentor engineers and drive a culture of technical excellence
- Define and uphold high engineering standards across the platform
Qualifications
- 10+ years of software engineering experience, ideally in high-performance trading environments
- Expertise in modern C++ (17/20/23) and Rust
- Strong experience with SQL and NoSQL databases optimized for performance and scale
- Deep understanding of distributed systems, multithreading, and performance tuning
- Experience with fixed-income trading systems (bonds, treasuries, credit derivatives, etc.)
- Familiarity with FIX protocols and market data feeds
- AI/ML expertise for data search, portfolio construction, or UX optimization is a strong plus
- Experience with cloud-native architectures (AWS, GCP, or Azure) is a plus
- Ability to balance innovation with platform stability and reliability
