Principal Engineer

At Neon Labs, we are building a high-performance, open source platform for launching decentralized applications on the Solana blockchain using the same programming languages and developer tooling as Ethereum. Ethereum developers can scale performance and access new liquidity without significant code changes, or build scalable applications from day one.

Who We're Looking For

Neon is seeking a Principal Engineer to push the boundaries of blockchain scalability, performance, and security. We’re looking for individuals with a deep technical background, hands-on vulnerability research, and a strong understanding of diverse network protocols.

The ideal candidate thrives in a dynamic environment and has experience working with high-load systems and infrastructure. They will play a pivotal role in advancing Neon EVM, enabling Ethereum-native applications to run seamlessly within Solana’s high-performance blockchain environment.

Your Responsibilities

Main Tasks (60-70%):

  • Conduct in-depth research on vulnerabilities (related to performance and resilience) in blockchain protocols, smart contracts, and distributed systems to ensure Neon EVM's robustness and security.

  • Develop and optimize high-performance components of Neon EVM to support decentralized applications on Solana.

  • Collaborate on architectural improvements, focusing on enabling seamless parallel execution of Ethereum transactions on Solana.

Additional Tasks (30-40%):

  • Experiment with and integrate Solana-specific features, such as Proof-of-History and parallel transaction execution, to improve the Neon ecosystem.

  • Explore innovative approaches to improve interoperability between Ethereum and Solana, enabling seamless token and application integration.

  • Stay informed on the latest blockchain research to propose cutting-edge solutions for improving the Neon EVM and its supporting components.

Skills, Nice to Have, and Strong Plus:

Must-Haves:

  • Proven experience in identifying and researching system vulnerabilities related to performance and resilience.

  • Hands-on experience working with multiple network protocols and high-load services.

Nice-to-Haves and Strong Plus:

  • Familiarity with blockchain ecosystems, particularly Ethereum and Solana.

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Rust or C++, and Python.

  • Experience with parallel processing or working on low-latency systems.

  • Contributions to open-source projects or publications in relevant fields.

  • Hands-on experience with blockchain development and related tools.

  • Familiarity with Neon EVM’s role in bridging Ethereum and Solana ecosystems.
