Position Highlights The Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) Department is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate to perform research on semiconductor devices for next-generation computing, including quantum emitters and neuromorphic transistors. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in solid-state physics, electronic materials, or device fabrication and characterization along with experience in nanofabrication, electrical or optical measurements, advanced microscopy and 2D materials.

Duties & Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities

Research and scholarly activities:

  • Conduct independent and collaborative research.
  • Design experiments, develop models, and analyze results.
  • Maintain accurate records of methods, data, and results.
  • Present findings at internal group/project meetings.

Publication and dissemination:

  • Prepare high-quality manuscripts for major peer-reviewed journals.
  • Contribute to conference presentations.
  • Assist with progress reports.

Mentorship:

  • Mentor graduate and undergraduate students in research projects.
  • Provide training on experiments, simulations, and data analysis.
  • Support the development of lab protocols, workflows and best practices.

Grant and proposal development:

  • Contribute to writing grant proposals.
  • Identify new funding opportunities.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Electrical and optical measurement skills.
  • Knowledge of semiconductor device fabrication and characterization.
  • Knowledge of solid-state physics and materials science.
  • Skill in nanofabrication and cleanroom techniques.
  • Ability to complete data analysis and programming (e.g., Python, MATLAB).
  • Knowledge of 2D materials and quantum device.
  • Collaboration and interdisciplinary research abilities.
Minimum Qualifications
  • PhD degree in Materials, Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Physics. Must be conferred before start date.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in semiconductor device fabrication and characterization.
  • Experience in nanofabrication and cleanroom techniques.
