The Division of Environmental Health Sciences, College of Public Health at The Ohio State University is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Postdoctoral Scholar to lead and support advanced research on antibiotic resistance, with a primary focus on clinical bacterial isolates and complementary investigations into foodborne pathogens. This position offers an exceptional opportunity to contribute to a multidisciplinary program exploring molecular mechanisms of resistance, novel antimicrobial strategies, and the epidemiology of resistant bacteria across healthcare and food systems. Candidates should have hands-on experience with clinical and foodborne bacterial isolates and be proficient in molecular biology techniques, genome sequencing, and antibiotic susceptibility testing. Experience with tissue culture assays and advanced bioinformatics, particularly microbiome and resistome analysis, is required. Strong scientific writing skills, experience in manuscript preparation, and the ability to contribute to grant writing are essential. The position also supports complementary research in bacteriophage therapy, microbiome and resistome analysis, and antimicrobial development, with additional opportunities for teaching, developing new studies, and collaborating on ongoing projects.

This position is contingent upon funding and will end on or before December 31, 2026, with possibility of renewal based on continued availability of funding and performance.

Required Education: Ph.D. in Microbiology or a closely related field.

Required Experience: A strong background in microbiology and molecular biology is essential, including experience with molecular and genomic approaches.

Desired Experience: We particularly seek someone who is proactive, collegial, and eager to contribute to a supportive environment. Demonstrated ability to manage laboratory operations and mentor junior researchers is highly desirable. Demonstrated success in publishing peer-reviewed research.

Salary: $61,008
