Salary: SO1 (£25,951-£27,668 pro rata)
Hours of work: 37 hours per week TTO+ 5 days
Actual salary: £22,291-£23,766

Following an extremely well attended recruitment event, The Stephen Longfellow Academy have the following position available for September 2017, those of you who attended the event are strongly recommended to apply. Positions are open to practitioners from within or outside of education with experience of working with children and or young people.
We are seeking to appoint an Outdoor Education Coach (Higher Level Teaching Assistant) to support the development of outdoor education as a key element of the academy. In order to do this you will need to be able to plan, deliver and evaluate sessions with individual children, small groups and whole classes. The successful candidate will be a dedicated, talented and energetic individual with the ability to support the learning of students within the fields of outdoor education. Building excellent relationships with students, parents and teachers forms an essential part of this role. Many of these activities will be undertaken off-site at specialist centres therefore you will require to be confident and proficient in this area.
A current clean driving licence is essential along with a valid D1 entitlement and preferable valid MiDAS certificate.
Applicants for this post should have:
- Experience of working with students with additional needs;
- A flexible and proactive approach to supporting students;
- A “C” grade or above in GSCE maths and English (or equivalent);
- Good IT skills;
- Ability to communicate well with students, teachers and adults;
- A good understanding of the issues relating to child development and inclusion;
- A commitment to safeguarding children.
The successful candidate will support students to develop key skills in climbing, canoeing, and other outdoor pursuits across the school and lead on planning and delivering programs that enable students to make better than expected progress within these areas. They will play a pivotal role in developing new approaches to supporting young people both within and outside the academy.
