Media Communications Officer
STR Group Services are working with a leading Public Sector client based in Sittingbourne, Kent and we are recruiting for a Media Communications Officer for an 8-month contract position. (Contract ends starts ASAP and ends in 31st December 2019) The pay for the position is £14.35 per hour, working 37 hours per week.
Job Purpose:
* Deliver professional media relations service for the client, acting as the main point of contact for journalists.
* Offering expert advice to councillors and officers on proactive and reactive media handling strategies to protect and enhance the reputation of the business.
* Monitor and evaluate media coverage and reporting, keeping key stakeholders informed about the organisation’s reputation in the media.
* Contribute to a rolling forward plan of proactive communications activity to deliver a strategic approach to media relations.
In order to be considered for this position, you must have the following experience and skills;
* Previous communications or journalistic experience
* Working in a busy press office, media handling and writing media releases
* Using a range of communications tools and techniques including traditional media relations and social media.
* Taking the lead in dealing with the media, often using your own initiative
* Monitoring and evaluating specialist media activity and coverage
* Experience of working in local government
