KH088 - Full-Time Household/Pet Assistant - Menlo Park, CA

Overview

A lovely client in Menlo Park is looking for a full-time household assistant Friday through Tuesday to join a small existing team. Saturday and Sunday will be 12-9pm with more traditional 8am-5pm or so hours on the week days. The position is 50/50 household help and pet care. On the weekends, care will be for an independent and willful 75 lb dog who loves company and staying active.

Responsibilities

Pet care:

• Transporting and doing two long walks, usually 3 miles each plus additional walking, play, and movement; averaging 6-8 miles of activity total each day
• Keeping an active, intelligent, and strong dog safe and healthy
• Using positive reinforcement techniques that will be provided
• Familiar with German Shepherd and Husky dog type personalities
• Patient, joyful, and understanding for a dog who has a full personality
• Covering for the week day pet caretaker if needed
• Vet trips as needed
• Feeding

Household help for the family and older extended family members:

• Tech and overall house support: helping with phone updates, setting up devices, fixing printer, setting up appliances or assembling items that get delivered, etc.
• Driving them to appointments using a provided car
• Errands such as groceries, dry cleaners, prescriptions, car maintenance and servicing, etc.
• Ordering household supplies and keeping track of inventory and restocking supplies, and communicating with the housekeeper about any needs that come up and assisting them with their tasks as requested eg taking out the trash, carrying or moving heavier household items such as laundry, bulk bags of pet supplies, etc.

Requirements

• Valid driver’s license, safe driving record, and reliable car
• Valid to legally work in the US
• Completing a thorough background check
• Ability to lift at least 50 lbs (gardening supplies, pet supplies, boxes, etc.) and physical stamina and ability to keep up with an active dog
• Animal lover and comfortable around many types of animals. Experience with large dogs with independent personalities is essential
• Professional demeanor and emotionally mature to tackle anything in a given day
• Highest level of privacy, discretion, and trust
• Empathetic, kind, patient, and understanding with all members of the family including all of the animals

Salary and Benefits

$140-155k annually 

$10k additional health stipend added to compensation annually 

Annual performance bonus

Mileage reimbursement at IRS rate for any on the job driving in personal vehicle
