Job Summary: 

Membership Consultants are the primary evangelists to grow the patient base in the communities we serve. As outside healthcare sales professionals, we ensure all seniors who can benefit from excellent medical care – regardless of their economic means – can be reached, inspired, and aided in joining our medical centers. Whether engaging directly with individual seniors in the community, organizing events to bring seniors together, or building effective partnerships with patient referral sources, our Membership Consultants are active & visible members of the community who ensure seniors gain access to the care they need. Consultants combine traditional B2C and B2B sales skillsets with effective community engagement, problem solving, and organizational skills in a truly rewarding, multi-channel growth role. Prior experience in Medicare Advantage sales or working with seniors is helpful though not required; we are a new breed of healthcare provider open to great sales talent from many walks of life.
  

Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Drives new patient enrollment year-round by identifying, cultivating, and securing new patients through direct-to-consumer, business-to-business, and community stakeholder relationships 
  • Meets individual seniors and groups in their homes, senior centers, houses of worship, and other community gathering places to promote our mission & value proposition for seniors 
  • Plans, coordinates, and executes local events in the community and in our centers to help reach our ideal patients (e.g. medically underserved, Medicare-eligible seniors) 
  • Cultivates relationships with individual health plan agents, independent brokers, social workers, case workers, senior housing managers, senior centers, and related community providers to position ArchWell Health as their preferred provider for senior healthcare when referring or assigning patients to a primary care physician 
  • Partners with ArchWell Health Community Relations on initiatives with community officials/influencers, businesses, and public health programs that appropriately drive new patient growth 
  • Coordinates with health plan agents and brokers to ensure prospective patients are enrolled in an accepted health plan and assigned to ArchWell Health in a timely manner 
  • Leverages sales & marketing tools (e.g. Salesforce) to identify and cultivate new patients, maintain current prospect information, and document sales interactions 
  • Provides monthly activity calendar reflecting community access points and tabletop venues. Creates penetration plans and initiatives in target sub-markets & channels 
  • Engages with new patients through and beyond their first appointment. Maintains relationships with enrolled patients to positively impact retention. Helps address and resolve customer complaints and issues
  • Travel Required: Very limited outside of local market (under 10%)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • H.S. Diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree is helpful 
  • 1 year of Sales or Community Relations experience required; 2+ years preferred 
  • Experience with a health plan, FMO / benefits broker, or provider is preferred 
  • Experience working with or selling to the senior community or medically underserved preferred 
  • Valid drivers’ license (required)

  • Position Overview:
    • Responsible for patient acquisition with monthly metrics
    • Build relationships with referral partners, agents and brokers selling medicare, events, senior living, generating leads, making cold calls.
    • Looking for: Kind person that has connections in the community, preferably sales experience in outside insurance sales, healthcare sales (medicare or life insurance), long term care reps, Hospice reps
    • Most successful consultants are able to get out into the community
    • Need to have field sales (not behind a phone)
    • Day to day of the role: 
    • Prefer majority of time is spent in the field (80-90%) Like for people to be relatively close to the center, doing calls, giving tours.
    • Centers do open houses each week (must participate in this)
    • Most patients are close by so not too much drive time
    • Need to be able to navigate through sales force, learn EMR (scheduling first patient appointments and ensuring they complete this appointment to meet metrics) 
    • Metrics: 
    • Required to do 3 events per week 
    • 10 patient meetings per week to meet the minimum.
      • Prior experience:
      • Community relations people do well
      • People that are involved in other ways in healthcare
      • Sales Experience out in the field is Very Important (face to face instead of over phone)

 

    • Technical Capabilities:
    • Should know how to work in Microsoft Suite to some level (edit PowerPoints, schedule meetings, etc).
      • Commission Structure:
      • If bringing in 11 patients a month, ~75k OTE
      • If 15 bringing in patients a month ~90k OTE
      • Before Hitting 11 patients a month for 3 Months straight (commission structure)
      • Patients 1-5 - no commission
      • Patients 6-10 - $250 per
      • Patients 11+ $400 per
    • Hours: 

      • M-F - 8-5 – Available throughout that time frame (it is a sales role)
      • Minimum 10 patients each month brought in (so if you need to work more you should work more)

      Mileage Reimbursement:

      • 67 cents a mile throughout the day
      • Archwell pays for promotional items
      • Phone and Computer given to employee by Archwell

      Salary: $50k 

    • After hitting 11 patients a month for 3 Months Straight
    • Patients 1-5 - no commission
    • Patients 6+ $500 per
    • Paid out monthly, uncapped (patient visits typically set up for next month, then paid on those the following) Based on patients that come in and complete first patient appointment
    • People will say “what happens when the clinic is full”
    • Not a huge issue, if they have more patients they bring in more provider teams
    • Should be bringing in ~80k in first year (well over 50% of sales team that makes it first year)
       

      Ramp Period: No accountability until the 3rd month. 

      • Learning the business
      • Eligible the first month for commissions
      • Likely going to be scheduling patients for the following month so won't be much.

Paid Sick Leave (Medix provides paid sick leave according to state and local sick leave ordinances). Health Benefits / Dental / Vision (Medix offers 6 different health plans: 3 Major Medical Plans, 2 Fixed Indemnity Plans (Standard and Preferred), and 1 Minimum Essential Coverage (MEC) Plan. Eligibility for health benefits is based on verifying that an average of 30 hours per week during the first 4 weeks of the work assignment has been met. If you meet eligibility requirements and take action to enroll, you will be covered no earlier than 60 days into your assignment, depending on plan selection(s)). 401k (Eligible on the first 401k open enrollment date following 6 consecutive months on assignment. 401k Open Enrollment dates are 1/1, 4/1, 7/1, and 10/1).
