Job Description
Cooke is a global seafood company with operations in North America, Europe, South America and Australia. The Role
Primary duties include:
- Assist other aquaculture technicians in the operation of fish hatcheries.
- Brood stock production and handling spawning, egg and fry production.
- Attention to details
- Ability to lift and carry brood fish
- Computer literate
- Ability to answer alarms
- Willing to work varied or irregular shift including weekends.
- Feed aquaculture stocks, vaccinate stocks, and perform culling.
- Operate, maintain, and clean pumps, filters, tanks and other aquaculture equipment.
- Keep daily records of water chemistry and oxygen.
- Grade and weigh aquaculture stocks.
- Handles chemicals with necessary PPE. Includes mandatory FIT testing (respirators).
The ideal candidate will have completed aquaculture training from a recognized educational institute. This requirement may be substituted with sufficient hands-on experience in spawning, egg incubation and early rearing of salmon fry.
Previous experience with water quality testing would be considered an asset.
