Role Description
The Field Operations Technician is responsible for executing on-site installations, maintenance, and support of Gridware’s advanced sensing systems. This role involves working closely with utility partners, troubleshooting technical issues, and ensuring high-quality installations that meet safety and performance standards.
(Mo-Fri, 12h/day). And all accommodation, travel, food, of course, is covered
Location: This role will involve significant travel (85% or more).

Responsibilities

  • Planning and overseeing the installation of devices on electric poles in remote areas, ensuring adherence to project timelines, specifications, safety standards, and local permits.
  • Working closely with line crews to provide clear instructions, guidance, troubleshooting, and supervision during the installation process.
  • Acting as a liaison between Gridware and utility companies, local authorities, and community members, to facilitate communication and build positive relationships.
  • Utilizing internal tools to maintain accurate records of installation activities, including site conditions, issues encountered, and corrective actions taken.
  • Conducting site assessments and verify readiness for installation, addressing any technical challenges encountered during setup.

Required Skills

  • 1-3 years of experience in field installation, technical support, or a related role.
  • A valid OSHA10 certification
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications are a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to provide clear direction and effectively oversee contractors and line crew personnel.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate professionally with cross-functional teams, crew members, and utility customers.
  • Ability to work independently in the field and adapt to dynamic and changing environments.
  • Strong proficiency in spoken & written English.

Successful candidates must demonstrate

  • Willingness to travel 85% or more.
  • Flexibility and willingness to work a sprint schedule (example: 4 weeks onsite, 2 weeks off) as needed.
  • Ability to work, and hike, outdoors in all weather conditions; including but not limited to snow, rain and varying temperatures.

Bonus Skills

  • Knowledge of utility infrastructure, installation techniques, and safety regulations
  • Proficiency in using GPS/GIS mapping tools or other outdoor mapping platforms
  • Experience working with or as utility contractors, particularly pole inspection companies
