About the job

About us

Trexo Robotics is enabling mobility by building powered wearable robots. Our first product is a robot for children with movement disorders such as Cerebral Palsy, and it allows kids to walk, in many cases, for the first time in their lives. The device is currently being used by hundreds of families and the best hospitals across North America.

We are constantly working towards building mobility solutions for all. At Trexo Robotics, you will find a flat organization where you can work with highly optimistic, low ego, and exceptionally talented individuals who look forward to solving hard problems.

About the job

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Electrical Engineer to help us accelerate the development of Trexos and continuously improve its performance. As part of a small team of 10 engineers, you will play a pivotal role in developing and enhancing the electrical systems that power our cutting-edge robotic technology. You will be responsible for creating innovative solutions, maintaining current devices, and actively participating in both internal and external lab verification activities, for example EMC testing.

This position is hybrid (3 days in the office in Mississauga).

About you

You want to work in a small team solving a big problem while helping an underserved community. You love when products just work and can't believe how some bugs make it out in the wild. You are detail-oriented and love asking why often until you understand something from first principles.

What you'll do

  • Create and maintain design requirements while completing traceability to outputs and V&V.

  • Design, develop and maintain our PCBs for motor control, power distribution, LED displays and test automation.

  • Assist in firmware development for embedded systems and test fixtures (using 62304).

  • Design, develop and maintain other electrical parts such as cables, battery, chargers etc.

  • Participate in internal and external lab verification activities (using 60601-1, 60601-2).

  • Create work instructions for incoming inspection, in process testing and assembly of electrical parts.

  • Support the manufacturing, service and supply chain teams by troubleshooting technical issues and communicating with external stakeholders.

  • Maintain and update the DHF and participate in releasing DMRs.

  • Lead compliance efforts related to electrical safety standards (UL, cMETus).

Required Skills and Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in an electrical design role.

  • Experience using electrical CAD software (Altium).

  • Strong knowledge of standards such as 60601, 62304, 13485.

  • Extensive experience with hardware design and volume manufacturing for medical devices or robotics using cGMP.

  • Extensive experience with embedded software development in C/C++ and working in a linux environment.

  • Experience designing PCBs with high speed circuits such as wifi, ethernet, PCIe

  • Experience designing Electrical systems that involve both power and logic circuits

  • Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills.

  • Hands-on experience with solder, crimping and using standard electrical test tools.

  • Interest in exoskeletons.

Nice to Have

  • Experience designing PCBs for embedded Linux computers

  • Previous experience in a medical device company.

  • Knowledge of ROS.

Please note that at this time, we can only consider applicants who are already eligible to work in Canada and we are unable to provide relocation support. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to receiving your application.
