SLT Hoops is a premier youth basketball program dedicated to developing well-rounded athletes on and off the court. We focus on teaching fundamental skills, instilling discipline, and preparing players for the highest levels of competition. Our mission is to inspire young athletes to reach their full potential through elite training, mentorship, and a culture of accountability.
Position Overview
SLT Hoops is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Basketball Coach to join our coaching staff. This individual will play a critical role in shaping our athletes by delivering high-level basketball instruction, fostering a competitive mindset, and upholding the core values of SLT Hoops. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, disciplined, and fully committed to the holistic development of each player.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute advanced practice plans that emphasize skill development, basketball IQ, conditioning, and team strategy.
- Provide individual and group instruction focusing on fundamentals, positional skills, and situational play.
- Evaluate athlete performance through regular assessments and provide targeted feedback to drive continuous improvement.
- Maintain a culture of excellence, accountability, and professionalism consistent with the standards of SLT Hoops.
- Prepare the team for league games, tournaments, and showcases, including scouting opponents and developing game-specific strategies.
- Support player development off the court by reinforcing sportsmanship, leadership, and academic commitment.
- Communicate effectively with players, parents, and program leadership to ensure alignment on goals and expectations.
- Attend all required team events, practices, games, meetings, and staff development sessions.
Qualifications
- Proven experience coaching competitive basketball at the youth, high school, or AAU level (college playing or coaching experience preferred).
- Deep understanding of basketball fundamentals, advanced concepts, and modern training methodologies.
- CPR and AED certification (required).
- Demonstrated ability to motivate and develop athletes in a high-performance environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Commitment to the mission and values of SLT Hoops.
