What are we looking for in you?  To be successful you need to be an excellent classroom teacher who can inspire and excite pupils about their learning at all key stages.  You will be passionate about your subject and help us to create life-changing opportunities and outcomes for our students. As a school we feel it is important to hire for the right attitude which is why we look for teachers that are enthusiastic, focused and resilient to the day to day pressures that teaching brings.

Our ideal candidate will:

o Be an excellent classroom teacher who can inspire and excite pupils about their learning at all key stages.

o Possess recent, relevant teaching experience.

o Have a good Honours Degree (or equivalent) in English.

o Be able to teach English up to, and including, GCSE Level.

o Be confident with the use of data for tracking student progress.

o Demonstrate their ability to communicate effectively with staff, parents, pupils and the local community.

We are seeking someone who will share our vision and values along with our commitment to inclusion with a focus on the 'whole' child. The skillful, committed and passionate Assistant Head of English will be an excellent teacher and demonstrate the ability to inspire a team of teachers, whilst supporting the Head of English in ensuring all students make good or better progress, through contributing to an innovative and enriching English curriculum.    This post offers outstanding opportunities for continuous personal and professional development for a highly motivated teacher.

In return we can offer:

o A vibrant, hardworking and committed faculty

o Well motivated pupils and supportive parents

o A distinctive Christian ethos

o A brand new school building completed in September 2017

Applications are invited from candidates able to uphold the Christian ethos of the school.  The post is covered by the Protection of Children Act and is therefore subject to an enhanced DBS check.  Information pack available from the school website (www.deanery.wigan.sch.uk) and returned to:

Closing date:  19th February 2018

o The progress made by the majority of pupils currently in the school is improving strongly and rapidly.  Their progress is now good.

o Teaching is good.  Teachers are knowledgeable about their subjects and most provide suitable stretch and challenge for pupils.

o Pupils have positive attitudes to learning.  They take pride in their work and behave well in lessons and at social times. Ofsted 2016
