At BETA Technologies, we apply our intellectual curiosity, passion for aviation, and commitment to sustainability toward a shared mission of revolutionizing electric aviation. Regardless of the position one holds, each team member brings their talent and desire to positively impact the environment and lives of others in a refreshing, vibrant, and inclusive culture.
We're seeking a Verification Test Lead to own the planning and execution of verification activities for our flight control systems. You will define test strategies, author and manage test plans and procedures, drive traceability to requirements, and lead test execution across models, software-, hardware-, and system-level environments through to flight test.
How you will contribute to revolutionizing electric aviation:
- Lead test strategy and planning for flight control systems across development phases and test environments (MiL/SiL/HiL, bench, iron bird/system rig, and flight test support)
- Author, review, and maintain verification artifacts: test plans, procedures, cases, scripts, reports, and coverage analyses
- Ensure full requirements traceability and verification closure; manage test readiness and entry/exit criteria
- Coordinate and schedule test campaigns; manage configuration, baselines, and change control for test assets
- Develop automated and manual tests; define data collection, analysis, and pass/fail criteria
- Drive issue triage, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions with Controls, Software, Systems, and Avionics teams
- Contribute to safety- and certification-aligned verification approaches (e.g., requirements-based testing, independence, coverage)
- Present verification status, risks, and mitigations to engineering leadership and stakeholders
Minimum Qualifications:
- Proven experience leading verification efforts for flight control or safety-critical control systems
- Strong background in test planning and authoring test plans, procedures, and reports
- Hands-on experience executing tests in HiL/SiL/rig environments and translating results
- Solid grasp of requirements management and traceability through verification closure
- Working knowledge of configuration management, defect tracking, and test data analysis
- Familiarity with relevant aerospace/system safety standards and practices (e.g., ARP4754/ARP4761, DO-178, DO-254, DO-160) or similar safety-critical domains
- Proficiency with scripting or test automation (e.g., Python, MATLAB/Simulink) and common data analysis workflows
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to lead cross-functional test efforts in a fast-paced environment
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (Aerospace, Electrical, Systems, or related) or equivalent experience
Above and Beyond Qualifications:
- Experience with Polarion ALM for requirements and test management
- Experience with Speedgoat HiL, NI/VeriStand/LabVIEW, or similar test platforms
- Knowledge of CI/CD for test automation and regressions (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI)
- Experience supporting flight test instrumentation, procedures, and data review
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Based in South Burlington, VT; on-site presence required to support labs, rigs, and integrated testing. Occasional travel to test sites and suppliers as needed
