Department Home Page techventures.uark.edu Job Type Staff Summary of Job Duties The Technology Manager will represent the University of Arkansas Technology Ventures in working with faculty, patent counsel and industry, including start-ups, to promote technology commercialization. The Technology Manager will develop new and/or maintain current internal and external marketing strategies. Internal marketing will be used to market Technology Ventures expertise and services to faculty, staff, and students while external marketing efforts will be targeted towards third parties for licensing and research collaboration. The Technology Manager will develop and maintain strong positive relationships with internal stakeholders as well as external industry partners. This position will be responsible for meeting with inventors and creators of intellectual property, actively researching the current state of the art and market potential of the technology or work, and presenting the intellectual property to the Patent and Copyright Committee. The Technology Manager will identify new industry partners for licensing and collaboration. The Technology Manager will negotiate licensing agreements, including agreements that are especially complicated and require a high degree of technology licensing skill and monitor existing agreements for contractual compliance. The Technology Manager will actively present educational seminars to faculty, staff, and students in various forums to promote an understanding of intellectual property and technology commercialization. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Promoting the mission and business of Technology Ventures through the development of strong relationships with inventors (mainly faculty members), legal counsel, prospective and actual licensees, and colleagues Screening inventions; evaluate and decide which inventions and works to pursue Developing and executing internal and external marketing plans for inventions and works Negotiating and executing licenses, confidentiality agreements, material transfer agreements, and inter-institutional agreements Providing continuous management of existing agreements for performance, compliance, and payment Educating faculty, students, and staff on intellectual property Minimum Qualifications: Please ensure that all relevant application materials include details addressing the minimum qualifications. Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences, physical sciences, computation, or engineering with a broad technical knowledge base At least two years of experience in technology transfer required Preferred Qualifications Advanced degree in biological sciences, physical sciences, computation, or engineering preferred Experience in technology transfer at a university preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs) Excellent oral, written, communication, and analytical skills are required Strong negotiation and organization skills Must be able to communicate proactively Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team Ability to work in a highly matrixed and complex organization with multiple stakeholders Must be able to be flexibility with changes in environment and role Physical activities associated with this position The following physical activities are associated with the position and will be performed with or without an accommodation.
