About the job

Branch Overview

Branch is a leading AI-based lending fintech with 50M+ downloads across India and Africa. We use alternative data to reach millions of people that are largely excluded from the financial sector.
Headquartered in Silicon Valley with operations in India, Nigeria and Kenya, Branch is a for-profit, socially conscious company built for scale and impact. Our mission-driven team—founded and led by the former CEO of Kiva.org—now spans 400+ employees globally. We’re backed by investors such as Andreessen Horowitz, Visa, and the IFC.

Job Overview

Branch launched in India in early 2019 and has seen rapid adoption and growth. We are expanding our product portfolio as well as our user base in all our markets including India, and are more than ever dependent on reliable products and systems to achieve our goals. As a Technical Project Manager, you will oversee planning and execution of critical software initiatives and projects for the organization. You will collaborate with business, partners, product, and engineering teams to align and help us achieve our goals. You will also work closely with other leaders throughout the company to build the right organizational structures and processes as we continue to grow.
As a company, we are passionate about our customers, fearless in the face of barriers, and driven by data. As an engineering team, we value bottom-up innovation and decentralized decision-making: We believe the best ideas can come from anyone in the company, and we are working hard to create an environment where everyone feels empowered to propose solutions to the challenges we face. As a Technical Project Manager, you will help the team achieve their goals through servant-style leadership and removing roadblocks.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee the entire project lifecycle, from initiation and requirements gathering through to design, development, testing, deployment, and post-launch support, particularly for key projects and initiatives.
  • Help develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, roadmaps, technical specifications, and timelines, ensuring clear alignment with strategic goals.
  • Ensure on time delivery of projects, within scope, and while maintaining highest quality standards and execution efficiency.
  • Track key project milestones and metrics, providing regular updates and accurate reports on project status, risks, and progress.
  • Manage project execution using appropriate methodologies, facilitating sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives, and backlog grooming.
  • Proactively identify project risks, develop mitigation strategies, and manage project scope to prevent creep and keep the team focused on delivery goals.
  • Coordinate and manage expectations, communications, and deliverables with stakeholders (including leadership and third-party partners).
  • Help build a culture of collaboration that embodies our values: Passionate about our customers. Fearless in the face of barriers. Driven by data.

Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years of software project management experience, preferably in a leading technology firm or an organized, fast-growth startup.
  • Excellent proactive communication skills with a proven ability to create visibility and alignment for all internal and external stakeholders.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with a talent for bringing structure to ambiguous, fast-paced environments.
  • Strong understanding of the full software development lifecycle (SDLC) for projects of varying scale and complexity.
  • A leadership style that balances empathy with a firm commitment to holding teams accountable for results.
  • A resourceful, solution-oriented, and highly collaborative approach to problem-solving.
  • Prior experience as a software engineer or a product manager is a significant plus.

Benefits of Joining

  • Mission-driven, fast-paced and entrepreneurial environment
  • Competitive salary and equity package
  • A collaborative and flat company culture
  • Remote first, with the option to work in-person occasionally
  • Fully-paid Group Medical Insurance and Personal Accidental Insurance
  • Unlimited paid time off including personal leave, bereavement leave, sick leave
  • Fully paid parental leave - 6 months maternity leave and 3 months paternity leave
  • Monthly WFH stipend alongside a one time home office set-up budget
