Job Title: Structural Steel Project Manager

Salary Range: $90,000-125,000
Position Summary:
The Structural Steel Project Manager is responsible for the successful planning, coordination, and execution of structural steel projects from pre-construction through completion. This includes overseeing budgets, schedules, procurement, subcontractor management, and ensuring work is completed safely, on time, within scope, and to quality standards. The Project Manager also works closely with operations to ensure field execution, shop coordination, and logistics align with project goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead all phases of structural steel projects from pre-construction through completion, including estimating handoff, planning, detailing, fabrication, delivery, erection, and closeout.
- Oversee both project and operational aspects to ensure alignment between field crews, fabrication shop, logistics, and administrative support.
- Collaborate closely with operations to ensure manpower, equipment, and scheduling resources are optimized for project needs.
- Coordinate with clients, general contractors, engineers, architects, and internal departments (detailing, fabrication, erection) to ensure alignment.
- Develop, monitor, and maintain project schedules, cost tracking, and resource allocation.
- Review and interpret structural steel drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Manage subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers to ensure timely delivery and compliance with specifications.
- Monitor field progress and attend jobsite meetings as needed.
- Ensure compliance with company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
- Resolve project-related issues and conflicts quickly and effectively.
- Prepare and present progress reports, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and other required documentation.
- Manage project budgets and prepare regular cost reports and forecasts.
- Oversee quality control and assurance on all steel-related work.
- Coordinate with accounting for billing, collections, and closeout documents.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent experience accepted.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in structural steel project management or steel erection.
- Strong knowledge of structural steel systems, fabrication, and erection practices.
- Experience with construction contracts, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and scheduling.
- Proficiency with construction/project management software (e.g., Procore, MS Project, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Tekla).
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- OSHA 30 certification preferred.
- Ability to travel to job sites as required.
