As a company, we constantly challenge what’s possible, never simply accepting what has always been done. We reframe old problems, seek new solutions and operate comfortably in areas that are unknown. Our backgrounds are diverse, but our team shares a love of the outdoors and a desire to protect it for future generations.

Role Summary

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to lead the prototype hardware integration (sensor, data loggers, etc.), vehicle bring up, troubleshooting and support of our prototype Autonomy data collection vehicles. The Autonomy Systems Integration Engineer will be part of Rivian’s Prototype, Development and Validation team working cross-functionally with the Autonomy and Test & Development teams and will be responsible for the successful integration and support of our data logger systems, additional autonomy sensors, prototype vehicle bring up and fleet troubleshooting. This includes vehicle-level software and hardware testing, debugging and calibration. The successful candidate will be organized, learn quickly, exhibit a can-do attitude and be able to manage fluid projects.

Responsibilities

  • Lead prototype vehicle builds, prototype hardware integration, data logger installation, bring up / commissioning, sensor calibrations, system debugging, development testing and part procurement.
  • Troubleshoot, root cause and proactively resolve software and hardware issues in collaboration with domain experts, including vehicle data deep dives, recommending and documenting corrective actions and influencing design.
  • Support systems engineering activities including developing and executing integration plans and metrics to track and improve vehicle performance and communicate bugs.
  • Own the field troubleshooting process, including providing remote troubleshooting support to vehicle operators and technicians in the field and in-person support when unable to resolve issues remotely.
  • Develop and maintain documentation and training tools for the prototype fleet.
  • Travel up to 30%.

Qualifications

  • Ability to work autonomously and effectively in a cross-functional, fast-paced and changing environment.

  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, communication and collaboration skills.

  • Experience with automotive architecture, electrical systems and communication protocols (Ethernet, CAN, XCP, etc.) and debugging tools (Vector CANalyzer, CANape, PCAN, Vehicle Spy, Wireshark)

  • Vehicle troubleshooting and diagnostics knowledge including but not limited to Service Routines, UDS protocol, DTC characterization.

  • Experience with ADAS/Autonomy sensors and ground truth equipment (LiDAR, Cameras, Radar, OXTS, DGPS, VBOX, etc.).

  • Experience with SW integration, scripting / coding tools, flashing modules, requirements definition, verification and validation (JAMA, JIRA, Confluence, GIT, Linux, Python, Matlab, SQL, etc.)

  • B.S. degree in Automotive, Mechanical, Electrical, SW, Mechatronics, Robotics, Aerospace, Systems, Computer Science / Engineering or a strong technical background in a related field with 2+ years working experience.

  • Valid US driver's license.
