Position: Sound Engineer Supervisor: Worship Director Type: Part-time/Non-Exempt Pay rate:  Commensurate upon experience Schedule: Up to 25 hours/week (weekend attendance and for special events)
Purpose:  The Sound Engineer is responsible for ensuring high-quality audio production for worship services, events, and recordings. This role involves setting up, operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining audio systems while overseeing volunteers and supporting various church functions. The Sound Engineer ensures an excellent audio mix and maintains the functionality of all audio equipment.

  Requirements:

  • Experience in successful live audio mixing or a willingness to train under a mentor.
  • Musical background preferred; experience with multi-track recording or professional audio system installation is a plus
  • Flexible schedule to accommodate emergencies.
  • Ability to lift equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
  Duties and Responsibilities: Pre-service
  • Set up and install audio equipment, including microphones, speakers, recording gear, and mixing boards for services, meetings, and events.

  • Perform line checks and sound checks, including gain settings, monitor mixes, volume adjustments, and equalization.
  • Diagnose and resolve audio issues, ensuring optimal sound quality.
  • Coordinate with the worship leader/director and pastor regarding schedules and updates.
During Service Responsibilities
  • Adjust sound levels as needed throughout the service.
  • Follow cues and directions from the worship leader and musicians (e.g., adjusting monitor levels).
  • Maintain focus on stage and schedule cues.
  • Ensure a distraction-free audio experience for the congregation.
Post-Service Responsibilities
  • Communicate with the band to address any audio concerns.
  • Identify, document, and replace or repair faulty equipment as necessary.
  • Clear and properly store all audio equipment, as needed.
  • Clean audio and store properly.
  • Ensure the safe transfer and shipment of equipment.
  • Maintain an updated inventory of all audio equipment.
 Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Training and developing audio volunteers in all sound areas of the church building including but not limited to main auditorium, youth, and kids’ spaces
