What You’ll Be Doing 👨‍💻👩‍💻 🛰 🛰

We're looking for a Software Engineering Manager to lead our talented Software Development team. This role requires a balance of hands-on development, team management, and strategic planning. You'll manage personnel across backend and frontend development teams to align our technology with business goals and product vision, working closely with engineering and product leaders.

This is a hybrid role with 2 days in office in Irvine, CA, Seattle, WA, or Arvada, CO. Candidates will also be considered in the greater Washington D.C area. We aim to maximize benefits of having in-person collaboration spaces while also working on a flexible schedule with a large amount of remote work!

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the engineering team's resource management including capacity and velocity, and ensuring optimal balance and function to meet business objectives and product roadmap milestones
  • Manage your team’s involvement in on-call engineering schedules and support structures, ensuring robust incident response protocols
  • Actively participate in the hiring process to grow the team and anticipate future needs
  • Dedicate up to 10 hours per week to coding, maintaining a strong connection with the team's technical work and challenges.
  • Prioritize the professional development and career growth of team members, providing mentorship and identifying opportunities for advancement.
  • Collaborate with engineering leaders to identify gaps or disconnects between teams and promote proactive architecting across Quindar’s engineering products
  • Collaborate with both external and internal partners, communicate plans clearly to all parties, and lead teams towards success
  • Coordinate with Product Managers on requirements and prioritization
  • Contribute to both engineering and product documentation
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
  • Host post-mortems and implement corrective actions

Background Qualifications

  • Ability to code and review code in various programming languages relevant to our stack.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and an understanding of software development life cycles.
  • A solid technical background with experience in backend and frontend development, as well as quality assurance practices.
  • Proven experience managing a team of software engineers and a track record of successful project delivery.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
