About the job

Overview

Working at Atlassian

Atlassians can choose where they work – whether in an office, from home, or a combination of the two. That way, Atlassians have more control over supporting their family, personal goals, and other priorities. We can hire people in any country where we have a legal entity. Interviews and onboarding are conducted virtually, a part of being a distributed-first company.

Responsibilities

You will collaborate with designers, data scientists, product managers, and engineers to create innovative solutions for Atlassian, driving our Enterprise transformation. You will be responsible for identifying, defining, prioritizing and delivering on the critical research needs, delivering measurable impact to the business. Success requires a background in mixed methods research, strong communication, storytelling and leadership skills to drive product vision and inspire innovation.

What You’ll Do

  • Set and Execute Research Strategy: Identify the critical Enterprise & Platform research priorities, establishing a practice that balances speed and quality of research execution.

  • Lead and Develop Teams: Manage, mentor, and grow a high-performing, globally distributed team, fostering excellence and an inclusive culture.

  • Drive Impact and Partnerships: Identify and prioritize high-impact research opportunities, build strong cross-functional partnerships, and deliver insights that guide company decisions.

  • Scale and Innovate: Extend research influence across the business, champion best-in-class standards and innovative methodologies (including AI), and represent Atlassian externally as a thought leader.

Qualifications

Your background

  • Leadership & Influence: 7+ years managing and mentoring diverse, distributed research teams (10+ professionals), with a proven ability to build high-trust communities and drive organizational alignment and change at the enterprise level.

  • Strategic & Research Expertise: 10+ years leading impactful research strategy in complex software environments, applying advanced quantitative and qualitative methods to influence product direction and business decisions, and establishing methodological excellence—including in AI and experimentation.

  • Enterprise Strategy & Technical Acumen: Deep experience with enterprise-scale products, market strategy, and adoption, supported by an advanced degree (Master’s/PhD) in a relevant field and strong technical skills in mixed-methods research.

  • Attributes: Thrives in complexity and ambiguity, models resilience and continuous improvement, and is a visible champion of Atlassian’s mission-driven, human-centric values.

Compensation

At Atlassian, we strive to design equitable, explainable, and competitive compensation programs. To support this goal, the baseline of our range is higher than that of the typical market range, but in turn we expect to hire most candidates near this baseline. Base pay within the range is ultimately determined by a candidate's skills, expertise, or experience. In the United States, we have three geographic pay zones. For this role, our current base pay ranges for new hires in each zone are:

Zone A: $218,700 - $285,525

Zone B: $197,100 - $257,325

Zone C: $181,800 - $237,350

This role may also be eligible for benefits, bonuses, commissions, and equity.

Please visit go.atlassian.com/payzones for more information on which locations are included in each of our geographic pay zones. However, please confirm the zone for your specific location with your recruiter.
