Job Description
We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer with strong expertise in SQL and Python to design, build, and optimise data pipelines. The ideal candidate will have experience working with modern data platforms, cloud environments, and an interest in enabling analytics and business intelligence through clean, reliable data models.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines for data ingestion and transformation.
- Write complex SQL queries and optimise them for performance.
- Develop data workflows using Python for automation, data validation, and integration.
- Collaborate with analysts and BI engineers to ensure data availability and quality.
- Manage and monitor data pipelines for reliability and performance.
- Implement data quality checks and logging across all data layers.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to support reporting and analytics initiatives.
- 5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or similar role.
- Strong SQL skills (complex joins, window functions, optimisation).
- Proficient in Python for ETL scripting, data manipulation, and automation.
- Experience with relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, Snowflake, or BigQuery).
- Solid understanding of data modeling and ETL best practices.
- Experience with Fivetran, dbt, or other modern ELT tools.
- Familiarity with any BI tool (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Looker).
- Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
- Knowledge of version control
