Beltways is seeking a highly experienced Senior Software Engineer to join our fast-paced startup building the world’s first modular accelerator. The Senior Software Engineer will take the technical lead in developing Beltways’ industrial software solution using modern technologies.
This is an exciting opportunity to work with one of the fastest growing startups in the mass transit industry.
Role Responsibilities
- Build web applications with React and Node.js
- Create dashboards and interfaces for industrial systems
- Develop APIs and real-time applications
- Apply cybersecurity best practices
- Work with industrial automation systems

Required skills
Basic Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Masters in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, or related major
- Reliably commute to the headquarters in Hebron, Kentucky
- Desire to work in a fast-paced environment
- Genuine curiosity and passion for problem-solving
Core Technical Competencies
- JavaScript & TypeScript - Modern JavaScript and TypeScript for development
- Node.js - Server-side applications, REST APIs, system communication, WebSocket implementations, and real-time systems
- React - Frontend development, UI design, dashboards, human-machine interfaces, and modern React patterns (Hooks, Context API etc.)
- Industrial Cybersecurity - Network security fundamentals and operational technology security for industrial environments
- Git - Version control workflows and collaboration platforms (GitHub, GitLab)
- Development Tools - CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, code linting, and build tools (Webpack, Vite or similar)
Preferred Qualifications
- Industrial Automation - PLC systems, HMIs, Mechatronics, SCADA systems and protocols (ADS, OPC UA, Ethernet/IP or similar)
- Python/C++ - Scripting for automation tasks, data processing, and backend tooling
- Time-Series Databases - InfluxDB or similar for sensor data and metrics handling
- Computer Vision - Open-source models, CUDA, camera integration, object/pose detection, and image processing
- Docker - Containerization and deployment environments
- Linux - Command line operations and system administration
- Real-Time Systems - Real-time data processing and low-latency applications
- Network Protocols - Industrial networking standards and communication protocols
