Giatec Scientific Inc. (Giatec) is seeking a talented and experienced Senior Software Engineer with a strong focus on DevOps and Infrastructure to lead and contribute to the development of robust, scalable, and reliable enterprise web applications. This hybrid role combines software engineering expertise with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles to ensure high system availability, operational excellence, and innovative feature development.
The work location for this role is in Ottawa. Our preference would be a candidate who can work in a hybrid environment both remotely and in person.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:
- Drive the end-to-end software development lifecycle, including planning, design, implementation, testing, and deployment of enterprise solutions.
- Establish and maintain CI/CD pipelines for seamless and reliable deployments.
- Automate operational tasks, including monitoring, logging, and incident response processes.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve critical customer issues.
- Promote DevOps skill adoption and enhance infrastructure understanding within the software team.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with other technical teams to align goals and ensure system reliability.
- Actively participate in Agile development practices as part of the SDLC.
WHAT DO YOU BRING TO THE ROLE:
- 5+ years of software development experience in enterprise web applications.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with Azure cloud infrastructure design, implementation, and maintenance.
- Strong development skills in three or more of the following: Angular, Django, Python, JavaScript, SQL, REST APIs.
- Experience with DevOps practices and tools, such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions.
- Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform for cloud resource provisioning.
- Hands-on experience with automation and scripting languages (e.g., Python, YAML).
- Solid understanding of object-oriented design, architectural principles, and software best practices.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and innovation skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science/engineering or equivalent experience.
- Bonus: Familiarity with DORA Metrics and their application to improve software delivery and operational performance.
