Job Title: Senior Financial Analyst
Location: Cornwall, ON (Hybrid)
Estimated Duration: Fulltime
Position Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Assistant Controller to support the financial management and operations of our growing manufacturing company. This role will work closely with the Controller to oversee financial reporting, cost accounting, budgeting, and internal controls, ensuring accurate and timely financial information to support strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
• Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, including preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements
• Assist in the development and monitoring of internal controls to ensure compliance with ASPE and company policies
• Oversee inventory accounting, cost accounting, and standard costing processes
• Analyze variances in manufacturing costs, including labor, materials, and overhead, and provide insights to operations and leadership teams
• Review and approval AP vendor payments
• Assist with external audits, including coordination with auditors and preparation of requested documentation
• Support compliance with tax filings, including VAT, GST/HST sales tax, and other regulatory reporting
• Help drive process improvements and automation within the finance and accounting functions
• Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff, providing guidance and performance feedback
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or working towards is nice to have)
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
• Good working knowledge of ASPE, cost accounting, and inventory management
• Proficiency with ERP systems (AS400, Microsoft 365 Business Central)
• Advanced Excel skills
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally
