Position Summary

We are seeking a self-driven and passionate individual to join our engineering team to deliver zero-carbon industrial heat and power with our novel solid state thermal battery. We are a tight-knit team that loves what we do and we strive to have an impact, working with humility and openness while building lifelong relationships along the way. The Field Engineer is responsible for managing the hands-on integration of Antora’s Thermal Energy Storage Battery and balance of plant systems during the installation, commissioning, and operations phases of a project. The field engineer will collaborate with internal engineering and operations teams to safely commission and operate first-of-a-kind industrial installations of the Antora's thermal battery. The field engineer will be a key technical member of a cross-functional and rapidly growing organization, whose work will directly contribute to the demonstration of a first of a kind long-duration energy storage technology.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Set-up, operate, configure, and maintain balance of plant machinery and Thermal Energy Storage modules
  • Operate and run the facility through the plant SCADA system
  • Directing construction crews or workers at site; oversee repairs
  • Create and run performance test plans, to ensure equipment operates per its performance guarantees
  • Draft and submit reports on project status, operational metrics, standard operating procedures, and performance tests
  • Generate and execute on designs for minor site or equipment modifications and upgrades
  • Responsible for ensuring the equipment produces high quality products, runs smoothly and at capacity, and is properly maintained
  • Diagnose construction and machinery issues; perform maintenance; resolve onsite malfunctions
  • Perform quality control, follow reporting and record keeping procedures, and report problems to supervisor
  • Comply with all safety and health regulations
  • Read mechanical drawings, P&IDs, electrical schematics, and make red-lines as required
  • Be the technical point of contact for installation, commissioning, and operational tasks between the engineering teams and operational teams
  • Provide clear and regular feedback to other engineering teams
Key Qualifications

  • Bachelors or equivalent in mechanical, industrial, process, electrical, software, or automation engineering and/or 5+ years’ experience as a Field Engineer in industrial applications (oil & gas, chemicals, power plants, etc.)
  • Experience commissioning industrial equipment such as developing and performing ITPs, Loop Checkouts, FAT & SAT
  • Hands on experience installing, troubleshooting, repairing industrial devices such as motors, VFDs, pumps, valves and instrumentation like RTDs, Thermocouples and Transmitters
  • Ability to temporarily relocate or be onsite 90%+ of the time for multiple months at project sites - our 1st project is expected to be in South Dakota (note: Antora supports temporary relocation and living arrangements benefits for this position)
Additional Qualifications Desired

  • Experience with processes engineering of systems like Combined Heat and Power Plants, Boilers, Steam Generators and High Temperature Fluid loops.
  • Experience with Allen Bradley, Emerson, SEL PLCs.
  • Experience with Ignition SCADA.
  • Previous operations and maintenance experience
  • Experience with medium voltage and low voltage power systems

Work Location: Onsite - South Dakota 60-75% time.

Salary Range: $100,000 USD - $150,000 USD

Salary Basis: Annual

The actual salary offered will be within the posted range and determined based on several factors including but not limited to a candidate's experiences, credentials and expertise, as they pertain to the position's requirements.
