Java API Developer

Our Financial Services Risk Management (FSRM) practice focuses on risk management, regulatory, quantitative, and technology backgrounds. The breadth of experiences of FSRM professionals enables the practice to coordinate the delivery of a broad array of risk management services to capital market participants throughout the world in a well-integrated manner.

Role Overview

We are looking for a skilled Java API Engineer with strong expertise in Spring Boot to design, build, and maintain high-performance APIs and backend services. The role will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, secure, and efficient solutions, while ensuring best practices in coding, testing, and deployment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs and microservices using Java and Spring Boot.
• Collaborate with frontend, DevOps, and product teams to deliver end-to-end functionality.
• Integrate APIs with databases, third-party services, and internal applications.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following industry standards.
• Optimize application performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Implement robust error handling, logging, and monitoring for APIs.
• Ensure compliance with security standards and best practices (authentication, authorization, data protection).
• Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and sprint ceremonies.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues within SLAs.
• Stay up to date with emerging backend technologies and frameworks.

Required Skills & Experience

• Proficiency in Java (Java 8 or higher) with strong knowledge of Spring Boot and Spring ecosystem.
• Experience in building RESTful APIs and microservices architecture.
• Hands-on experience with relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle) and ORM frameworks (Hibernate/JPA).
• Familiarity with API documentation tools (Swagger/OpenAPI).
• Strong understanding of API security (OAuth2, JWT, SSO).
• Experience with build tools (Maven/Gradle) and version control (Git).
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and deployment on cloud/on-prem platforms.
• Knowledge of unit testing frameworks (JUnit, Mockito) and API testing tools (Postman, RestAssured).

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with message brokers/streaming platforms (Kafka, RabbitMQ).
• Familiarity with NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cassandra).
• Exposure to containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Cloud platform experience (GCP, AWS, or Azure).
• Knowledge of GraphQL APIs (advantageous).

• Good communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ownership mindset with focus on quality and continuous improvement.
